Overview

About this product.

Curtinho is a short-video social app built as the anti-algorithm: a chronological feed of people you follow, nothing ranked, nothing auto-playing you into an infinite loop. Swipe right to like, swipe left to pass, and get in only by invite.

It started as a web app and is becoming a native product: profiles can be public or private, follows can require approval, and communities let people share posts beyond their own followers. The rebuild moves the whole stack — video storage, transcoding, delivery — onto infrastructure built to hold up at real scale.

How we built it

The approach behind the product.

  • Built the anti-algorithm, deliberately Every short-video app defaults to a ranking model deciding what you see next. We built the opposite on purpose — a strictly chronological feed of who you follow, which is a product decision as much as an engineering one.
  • Two gestures, no collisions Curtinho layers a Tinder-style horizontal swipe (like or pass) on top of vertical scroll between videos. Getting the axis-locked gesture handling right, so a like never gets mistaken for a scroll, took real interaction engineering.
  • Rebuilt for scale, not just for launch The original web app proved the idea. We are now rebuilding it natively in SwiftUI on a new Go API, backed by Cloudflare Stream for video transcoding and adaptive playback — infrastructure suited for growth, not just a demo.
